In Loving Memory Of Mimi

In Loving Memory Of Mimi

Each year, for almost a decade, someone has been dropping a 20 Dollar Liberty Eagle Gold Coin, into Salvation Army kettles in the Fort Myers, Florida area. The Salvation Army is known to collect coins outside of businesses during the holidays for charity. This amazing gift each year will provide for some needy family or some charity work that the Salvation Army does.

The coins are said to be in perfect condition and with gold prices over 1700.00 per ounce (just for the gold) not to mention the numismatic value of the old coins themselves, makes for a very generous donation. Apparently, each year, many of the Salvation Army workers get excited around this time, wondering if their kettle will receive this amazingly generous donation. Along with the coin comes the most interesting and intriguing part. Something I think may even be more valuable than the coin itself. You see, each coin has written on it's case the words:

In Loving Memory Of Mimi

For us hopeless romantics out there this will certainly not do. We need to know who this Mimi is! Was she a lost love? An unrequited love from long ago? Or the sad loss of a child or grandmother? Or could it be someone else? Why the anonymous donation? Mimi must have been beautiful. Mimi must have had an amazing beauty that surpassed just a physical appearance. What would move a ( and I am assuming a man) to drop a coin, of that value, anonymously each year, year after year, in Mimi's memory? Mimi must have given much joy to this person. Time and money are no object to this amazing love. Merry Christmas Mimi
